3-G Cattle is a multi-generational farm whose goal is to preserve our heritage as we grow to meet the needs of the fast-paced world that we live in. Our farm was established as a dairy in the early 1950s and continued into the early 2000s. As the farm phased out of the dairy industry, we grew into the beef industry. Since the 1990s, we have grown our herd of Black Angus cross cattle. We are now excited to offer both live shares of animals for custom processing as well as USDA-certified cuts of freezer beef.
As we continue the journey to provide our friends and neighbors with farm-raised meats, we’ve learned that many of our current animal welfare practices also contribute to creating high quality meats. Producing premium quality meat isn’t achieved just in the months that cattle are “finished out.” From genetics, the animal husbandry practices, to meat handling, it’s a multi-faceted process. As we highlight several practices below that are vital to our operation, you’ll see that animal welfare is at the heart of all of these practices. We care deeply about the animals that are entrusted in our care and know that we have a duty as livestock producers to work continuously to ensure that each animal has an excellent quality of life for the entirety of its life. You will see specific protocols that we follow in the description of each cut of meat. You can also click on each of these protocols for a more detailed description.
